Seaford Final Final Real Food
The Blue Jay Lunch Run comes to video with it's final success as the FIRST 2008 Seaford Farmer's Market... a HUGE smash success! Artisan's and local food growers combined to being in droves of people interested in a healthier lifestyle and way of eating! Can what occurs inside the school impact the direct community, ABSOLUTELY! In 2 hours students made a hysterical video that was educational, and involved everyone in the school, while bringing them to the realization that Seaford's first Farmer's Market was a success! From Newton's Law of Gravity, then Motion, to the Mad Dash Lunch Run for that healthy food, to Seaford's Farmer's Market is THE perfect lesson in seeing how everything is related, if you pay enough close attention to!

Real Food Is...
This movie was made by the Colorado College Farm Club! Last year, we started a student-run 1.3 acre organic garden near campus. Colorado College's dining service has started to use some of our produce in the cafeteria, but we hope to expand the program during the upcoming growing season!
Real Food Is...By Abernethy Elementary School
This video is a short documentary about Abernethy Elementary School's Real Food program. Abernethy Elementary School is a public k-5 school in Portland, Oregon. Its Real Food program consists of The Garden of Wonders where organic fruits and vegetables are grown and harvested by the children and used in the school's scratch kitchen. The meals created in the scratch kitchen are then given to the children in the cafeteria. All meals made here consist of local and organic foods. Abernethy also has a Garden Classroom where all the children learn about the food life cycle. Here, they get to taste the harvest vegetable/fruit of the month and learn where their food comes from. They also learn how to garden and maintain their own garden beds. Abernethy Elementary's scratch kitchen is the test kitchen for all of the Portland Public School's hot lunches. The district takes the recipes made at Abernethy and uses them for harvest of the month lunches twice a month in all the rest of PPS' schools. Currently, Abernethy is the only school with this unique Real Food Scratch Kitchen/Gardening program in the state.
